Congratulations to Wendy Patterson (PhD candidate at UNM's  Optical Science and Engineering program) for being awarded  the LANL 2008 Student Distinguished Performance Award. This recognition is awarded annually to only a handful of outstanding students. Wendy is being recognized for her successful work at LANL on developing high-purity materials for our group's laser cooling project under supervision of our LANL collaborators Dr. Markus Hehlen and Dr. Richard Epstein.

The award was presented (see photo) at the 2008 Student Symposium on Wednesday 8/6/08 as part of the Awards Reception from 5:30-7:30pm at the UNM Los Alamos campus. The agenda is here .
