All observers must be trained in the use of CPO equipment, opening and securing the facilities, driving 4WD
vehicles, and emergency procedures. One part-time assistant and one full-time Observatory Manager
are available for training sessions with new observers and for assisting with remote projects. UNM observers
should not expect automatic observing assistance and should be prepared to observe independently after being
trained.
For saftey reasons, all observing must be done by teams of two or more people.
