LW001 Solar Radio Bursts at High Temporal and Spectral Resolution
White, S., stephen.White@us.af.mil

We propose to observe Type II and Type III solar radio bursts with LWA-1. The science goals are (i) to test
whether Stochastic Growth Theory correctly describes the statistics of the wave field of plasma emission in the
solar corona; (ii) to study fine structure and the emission mechanism in Type II bursts; and (iii) to test the
proposal that termination shocks generated by outflows from a reconnection region in solar flares can play a
major role in accelerating nonthermal electrons. Confirmation that SGT is operating will allow us to develop the
diagnostic potential of the radio emission.
